LCF learning video guides

Ollie Furlong is LCF’s Learning Technology Support Manager, and is at the forefront of the College’s learning video production, as well as its new lecture capture system.  He and his colleagues have created a blog that focuses on different aspects of learning videos, including a really helpful section of reference links.

Sometimes we need to reinvent the wheel, as it takes us along our own road of learning.

CSM recently launched OTTeR, its own bespoke system providing location specific workshop video guides, plus wider workshop related information. Mus Mehmet and Ray Barker initiated the project having identified a need, as well as an opportunity, to use digital technologies to support the student learning experience – and their own practice. The early videos concentrated on processes undertaken in the print workshops, and have since extended to other workshops. OTTeR is a work-in-progress, and one that has been developed through the vision and vim of CSM’s technical specialists, and supported by the College.

As well as OTTeR, the College community has online video training available through the Lynda.com platform.

An interview with Ray Barker and Tyrone Messiah about OTTeR and Lynda.com will be published in the Autumn Term 2012.
